Now Available: Special Issue of Constructivist Foundations (2015) on the Design of Conferences

In November 2015 a special issue of Constructivist Foundations was published, on the topic of the design of conferences.

Four main papers were published, to which participants were invited to respond. This format turned into enlightening conversations themselves and the contributions exceeded our expectations. 38 papers were published altogether, full of critical discussions of ideas and approaches around alternatives for traditional paper presentations. The four main papers are:

  • Developing a Dialogical Platform for Disseminating Research through Design by Abigail C. Durrant, John Vines, Jayne Wallace & Joyce Yee
  • The Banathy Conversation Methodology by Gordon Dyer, Jed Jones, Gordon Rowland & Silvia Zweifel
  • Designing Academic Conferences in the Light of Second-Order Cybernetics by Laurence D. Richards
  • Designing Academic Conferences as a Learning Environment: How to Stimulate Active Learning at Academic Conferences? by Johan Verbeke

The authors include: Carl DiSalvo, Liz Edwards, Jane Norris, Nithikul Nimkulrat, Jonas Löwgren, Peter Lloyd, Rosan Chow, Wolfgang Jonas, Amy Twigger Holroyd, Kathia Castro Laszlo, Gary S. Metcalf, Alexander Laszlo, Ken Bausch, Laurence D. Richards, Christiane M. Herr, Tom Scholte, Paul C. Schroeder, Judith Lombardi, Andrew O. Brightman, David Griffiths, Philip Baron, Robert J. Martin, Jennifer Kanary Nikolov(a), Christoph Brunner, Eric Guibert, Søren Kjørup, Mira Sanders.

FYI, the original CFP was on my old Design Calls blog.
