Special Issue of Information Design Journal: Semiotics and Information Design (Aug 2016)

Website: Information Design Journal
Deadline for submissions: 31 August 2016

With this issue, we hope to highlight the contributions of the field of semiotics to information design, from the most theoretical and conceptual approaches to the more applied ones.

The Information Design Journal is a peer-reviewed international journal that bridges research and practice in information design and it is published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. Its papers discuss the design, usability, and overall effectiveness of ‘content put into form’ — of verbal and visual messages shaped to meet the needs of particular audiences.

We therefore invite authors to submit papers on research outcomes, case studies, critiques of information design and theory, and research-in-progress related to the topic.

Submissions should be in the form of full papers, with up to 6,000 words, and follow the guidelines of the Information Design Journal. They should be sent by email to Guest Editors Priscila Farias (prifarias@usp.br) and João Queiroz (joao.queiroz@ufjf.edu.br) along with an abstract of 300-400 words, and a brief biography of the author(s) with up to 250 words.

Deadline for submissions is 31 August 2016.

If you are interested in submitting a paper, we invite you to contact us with a short proposal, including a tentative title and information about contributing author(s), as soon as possible.

Full papers submitted to this special issue will be subject to the Information Design Journal usual double-blind refereeing process. Selection criteria will aim at a balance between research approaches and geographic coverage.
